What payment processor does Shopify use?

Shopify provides its own payment processing service called Shopify Payments. It is a payment gateway that enables Shopify merchants to accept payments from their customers using credit cards, debit cards, and other payment methods such as Apple Pay and Google Pay. Shopify Payments is available in many countries including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, and more.

Shopify Payments – the default payment processor for all Shopify stores, is built using the Stripe Payment Processor. Though Shopify does not refer to it as Stripe, users who have had issues with stripe will have the same issues with Shopify Payments.

Shopify Payments is a fully integrated payment solution that is built directly into the Shopify platform, making it easy to set up and use. It eliminates the need for merchants to sign up for third-party payment processors, which can be time-consuming and costly. With Shopify Payments, merchants can accept payments with a simple and straightforward fee structure that varies by plan, with no additional transaction fees. The fee is reduced when using Shopify’s own payment processor, making it a popular choice among merchants.

In addition to Shopify Payments, merchants can also use third-party payment processors such as PayPal, Stripe, Amazon Pay, and others, which can be integrated into the Shopify platform. However, these third-party processors may have their own fees and transaction costs.
