Shopify Blog Templates

Blogging on Shopify is not quite as easy or intuitive as you might think. Though shopify does have blogs as a built in function in the backend, knowing how to write a good blog posts is more than half the battle.

To help make that battle a bit easier, I have written up a few example blog template ideas with example keywords you can use to write great SEO focused content for your blog and inspire your new website visitors to purchase.

Shopify Blog Template for New Product Announcements

In 2023, one way ecommerce stores really take off is by encouraging transparency and communication with their community. When you are a new store, it can be hard to know who your community is and why they care about your product.

The below blog post template is a great template blog post for new Shopify stores that don’t have a lot of traffic yet. Taking the time to write about why you decided to launch your store, the history of the product and even the manufacturing and sourcing behind the product can help you gain a loyal following that appreciates your product for more than just the products you sell, but the story you tell.

In the below template, I have structured some keywords and introduction paragraphs that should help spur some inspiration. If you need some help, you can use rytr.me which is what I frequently use to help get me out of any copywriting rut and expand on current ideas when I am fresh out.

I also took some time to make sure the blog post has some specific calls to action to help take advantage of the people that do make it through the entire article and potentially spur some initial sales. Feel free to  adapt this template however you see fit.

Shopify Blog Template for "Solving a Common Problem Related to Your Product"

So really quick, this template is meant to highlight a similar problem your target audience has in their life and may be looking to solve. For example, if I sold shoe cleaner on my website, I could write a blog post about the best home remedies for keeping white sneakers clean.

You may go “well what the heck? I don’t want to teach people ways they can fix a problem my product solves without having to buy my product?” Correct. You don’t want to do that, that’s not the point of these kinds of articles.

The point of these blog posts is to highlight how frustrating it can be to go through the whole process of cleaning white sneakers yourself when you can just buy your product instead.

In many great and e-commerce driving blog posts, your focus should be on using tactical methods of making your website traffic visitors feel the pain of the problem you want to solve for them by buying your product. eCommerce is mostly driven by emotional purchases and if you can get your visitors focused on how hard its going to be to clean sneakers every day on their own, you can end the article with a soft pitch for your product. “Now all these steps can get a bit tiresome and frustrating to do every day and some people still have trouble keeping their white sneakers clean despite all these amazing home remedies. How to Write SEO Focused Content for Shopify

Writing good SEO content for Shopify is very important to making your blog successful. There is a specific format that works better than others and I’ll be touching on the best format I have found to make blogs successful.

Step 1: Make sure your content is written in Header, Paragaph format.

Writing for SEO is not the same as writing for college or business reports. You need to make sure you organize each paragraph with content headers then write paragraphs below each header. Pro tip, when you write your headers, you have already done 90% of the work that will determine whether or not your blog will be successful or not. Dont. Skimp. On. Your. Headers!

Step 2: Try answering questions your users are looking for on Google.

Do a quick exercise where you google a question related to your blog post. One good strategy is to answer questions you find in that google search in the “other frequently asked questions” section on google.

You can also use a tool to tell you which questions people are asking on search engines. Answerthepublic.com is a very common and free tool for identifying good SEO blog tools.

Step 3: Write an appropriate amount of text!

Unfortunately, good blogs do have a word requirement. Depending on the blog post, you may need anywhere between 500 and 1500 words. My best practice has been to write a blot post with at least 350 words just in headers, then spend my time writing in between the headers to help get the blog post up to at least 1000 words.

Bonus tip:

Just writing and filling in the spaces with AI is not a great strategy. One important factor of your writing is the quality of the writing. That means, if I clicked on your link and clicked on your competitors link… if one is written better than the other, google will prefer the better written content!

So yes, you can use SEO tools and AI to help you write blog posts but you are much better off using human input and creativity to create your blogs than the other way around.
